The past 6-9th April took place in Bucharest, Romania, the second edition of the Erasmus Generation Meeting (EGM).

The Erasmus Generation Meeting (EGM) is the biggest conference where the Erasmus Generation meets to learn and discuss the future of mobility in Europe and beyond. This year in particular, the central theme was International skills for more engaged societies, with two main pillars: skills gained through international opportunities, and civic engagement of young people, mainly due to two main reasons: the first one being the ongoing European Year of Skills, and the second the Elections to the European Parliament, taking place next year.

During the event, participants were able to attend a wide variety of sessions (the programme had more than 100 sessions happening throughout the weekend) that revolved around three main themes: Recognition of youth work, Implementation of mobility programmes and their different dimensions and the Green and digital transition. These sessions were held both by ESN volunteers with expertise in the topics proposed as well as members of the different institutions or organizations participating in the event. In addition to these sessions, the agenda of the event was packed with other activities to allow the participants to make the most of the event:

The event kicked off on Thursday with a Flag Parade, followed by the opening ceremony, at which we were able to count on the participation of speakers from the main institutions and stakeholders supporting the event.

On Friday, the EGM Expo happened, and all the ESN National Organizations (NOs) had a stand where they were able to promote both their universities and their countries to the rest of the Network.

On Saturday, the candidates for the new International Board had a Q&A space where people could join them and ask them questions one-to-one. Additionally, there was a Poster Gallery, where either sections, NOs or ESN committees could share best practices or information about their respective committees, events or section cooperations.

Last but not least, on Sunday evening the ESN Awards took place during the Gala Dinner. These Awards are organized by ESN AISBL every year to award the work accomplished by local sections and NOs during the past year. Luckily, ESN Spain and its sections were awarded with several prizes during the evening, including the Education Award or the Employability Award, among others. All the winners can be consulted here.

In conclusion, during the EGM in Bucharest 2023, ESN was able to highlight the cruciality of promoting internationalization, cultural diversity, and social inclusion - values at the core of the organization. The event encouraged the exchange of ideas, experiences, and plans for future collaborations among participants, making it an unforgettable experience for all attendees.
